On 20th November 2014, Sarah gave birth to little Alice Rose Frances Tobin. Near the end of a 30 hour labour, Alice didn't get enough oxygen and she was not able to breathe. Alice was quickly transferred to the Trevor Mann Baby Unit where Sarah and husband David found out the lack of oxygen had caused Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. Sadly Alice passed away and since that heart breaking day, Sarah and Dave have raised over £7,000 from friends and family in Alice’s memory.
Roxanna Webster from design company Naked Lunge also supported their wish by designing a very special bespoke print ‘Fly Little Bird’. The beautiful print costs £12, with £10 from every purchase donated directly to the TMBU fund at Rockinghorse. Roxanna feels privileged to be a part of Alice’s story, “I wanted to see if I could help Sarah and Rockinghorse, so I created a special ‘Alice’ image on to a card and made prints to sell in our shop in baby Alice’s memory. The response was incredible and very touching. Sarah's story has also helped people who have been through loss themselves.”
Sarah is overwhelmed by the support received: “The print from Roxanna has been a fantastic way of reaching people outside of our circle and has helped to raise a further £700 so far. Alice has left a fantastic legacy, of which we are very proud, raising such a huge amount of money and for touching so many people’s hearts all around the world.”
