Rockinghorse has announced it's Christmas appeal for 2014 is supporting the Trevor Mann Baby Unit. With the help of individuals, local businesses, community groups and schools, the Brighton-based charity is aiming to purchase a Retcam digital imaging unit for the ward. This highly-specialised equipment will be used to help diagnose retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a eye condition which can cause blindness in premature babies. The new equipment will be used by Ophthalmologists and neonatal nurses to check eye health and enable early treatment, to give the very best chance of saving a patient's sight. It is hoped the Retcam digital imaging system will be available on the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in the New Year.
